Simplifying the red tape

The robotics industry has been around since the 1950s, but the real innovation is happening now. We're seeing robots in manufacturing and in our homes, and it will be interesting to see what the next ten years hold. The government is doing its part by supporting this fast-growing category with a range of grants.

When our robotics client won its first SBIR grant, the team was suddenly facing the daunting job of setting up an accounting system. The PhDs on staff had little time or interest in deciphering the government's rules. SBIR guidelines require the bookkeeping to be completely accurate. If the company didn't spend the money correctly, it could face painful sanctions and lose future grant awards.

What we did

We solved the problem by setting up a software platform tailored to the company's specific needs. The grant requirements were defined and built into the bookkeeping process so that compliance happened as part of the routine, not as a separate chore. The team received training, and they have access to us for ongoing support.

The result

The client got a cost-effective, efficient system that created very little distraction. That has let them focus on developing their concepts and building the robots of the future.
