SoftwareCPAs helps technology organizations build the smart financial foundation necessary to reach their goals. As the first CPA consulting firm to exclusively service the technology industry—including the biotechnology, chemical, digital marketing, e-commerce, information technology, pharmaceutical, robotic and software segments—we pride ourselves on providing highly specialized, maximum ROI accounting and financial services that enable our technology clients to scale faster.

For too many organizations, finances feel like an obligation instead of an opportunity. In part, that’s because accounting support tends to be one of two extremes—cheap but cookie-cutter, or customized but wildly expensive.

Welcome to SoftwareCPAs, where we combine big-firm expertise with the experience of running a small business and provide customized financial support at a reasonable, fixed price.

Our Promise:

Quality: Continuous, lifelong learning is woven into our culture, as is our commitment to the pursuit of better—for our clients and for ourselves. And by focusing solely on one industry, we are able to provide highly specialized counsel on changes that affect our clients, whether it’s a new tax rule or shifting trends, so that they can focus on growing their business instead of trying to also keep up with a constantly evolving marketplace.

Service: Our clients are our partners, and we don’t believe in earning a new client’s trust and then delegating the work to staff; at SoftwareCPAs, every client works directly with a vested, highly trained partner. Our commitment to best-practice customer relationship management (CRM) systems ensure that we are always proactively searching for strategies that will build our clients’ business, and our strong project management skills enable us to honor every commitment.

Price: Simply put, you will never receive a surprise bill from our firm. Before we begin any project, we quote all work upfront so that every client can properly evaluate the project’s ROI.

David Nagy, CPA

Dave is a creative CPA, tax expert and business advisor to technology businesses. He has dedicated his entire public accounting career to helping companies grow, and his broad expertise and fresh perspectives have made him an invaluable resource for tech companies looking to buck the status quo. Outside of the office, Dave enjoys spending time with his family, running obstacle races (slowly), and listening to business books while doing small home construction projects (badly).

Some accomplishments:

  • Launched Nagy & Associates P.A. in 2002 with little money and zero clients, but built it up to seven employees—about as big as an accounting firm can get without having to take on partners. Successfully merged with another firm in 2014 to make way for SoftwareCPAs.
  • Served as the outside CPA for four different INC-500 award winners, all in the technology segment.
  • Developed and launched ReasonableCompensation.com, a tax software program for other CPAs.
  • Chaired the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Small Firm Networking Group.
  • Founded and served as 10-year board member of the Technology Forum of Delaware.
  • Recognized in the Journal of Accountancy (June 2012) as a “Generation Next” CPA.
  • Published in Accounting Today magazine.
  • Launched SoftwareCPAs in 2014.

Jason Miller, CPA, MBA

Jason started his career with a Big Four public accounting firm, working with technology- and other entrepreneurial-based organizations, and it was during these years that Jason realized that while he loved his work, he’d really rather own his own accounting practice. After fulfilling the dream of opening his own practice, he next founded SoftwareCPAs with Dave, and the two friends vowed to build their practice on the premise that they’d treat clients just as they do their good friends. Jason is a CFO at heart, serving in this position for a number of organizations over the past several years. He and his family live on Capitol Hill, where he enjoys the city’s vibe and is excited to see how small businesses will continue to reshape the landscape. He can be found each morning biking along the Anacostia River Trail or running the city streets.

Some accomplishments:

  • Worked for 10+ years as an auditor for a Big Four public accounting firm.
  • Worked as in-house CPA for Marriott International, Internal Audit and SEC Reporting Group.
  • Held CFO position for global organization, responsible for all financial and risk management.
  • Earned MBA from The George Washington University.
  • Started a general CPA practice, J.S. Miller Group, PLLC, in 2012.
  • Launched SoftwareCPAs in 2014.

SoftwareCPAs’ team of expert accountants, tax advisers and consultants are highly experienced, friendly and professional. We utilize a diversified group of internal employees and external, flexible contractors to ensure that every client gets a team tailor-made for their unique needs. All work is managed closely by a vested, highly trained partner.
